Informed Pregnancy and Childbirth Options: ♥️ From a Homesteading Doula 🌻🌼

Can you imagine going through pregnancy as if it were a normal part of life, simply listening to your body? Your body is designed to create, nurture, deliver, and feed your baby—so why question it?

Don’t get me wrong; I’m extremely thankful for the medical world. I seek their help when I'm sick or injured, and their technology is invaluable—sometimes even life-saving! I was thrilled to see my babies during ultrasounds and loved sharing those precious pictures. However, by baby #4, I decided that even if there were something wrong, I would still want my baby. So, why take the risk of an ultrasound? If there was any bleeding or cause for concern, I would have rushed to seek help. My body hadn’t failed me in my previous pregnancies, so I didn’t think it would this time either.

Often, routine procedures like ultrasounds or genetic testing can lead to unnecessary worry, prompting more tests and interventions. Sometimes, babies are born perfectly healthy despite these concerns. These interventions can sometimes lead to further complications, causing trauma for families and contributing to postpartum mood disorders.

Remember, you can say no to inductions and pain medications. I encourage you to research and understand your options. Knowledge is empowering, and being informed helps you make the best decisions for your situation.

I’m not here to dictate what is right or wrong; I respect the medical community and understand their reasoning. My aim is to help you realize that you have choices.

I encourage you to learn about your options and feel supported in your decisions during labor, birth, and postpartum.

Now that you know your choices, you can decide what fits best for you and your family.
